Wiring your synchronizer for DigiConform

DigiConform systems are equipped with either one of two impulse counter cards. The ISA-type card has 3 female 9-pin plugs, the PCI-type card has one female 37-pin plug.

WARNING: Wrong wiring can cause irreparable damage to the counter cards and your computer. Please verify the connections on your particular synchronizer. Any use of the information on this page is at your own risk.

Pin schematic for the ISA-type cards

1 +12Volt out (from Computer)
2 +5 Volt out (from Computer)
3 reset (active high); should be bridged to Pin 6, in order to avoid accidental resets due to crosstalk etc.
4 Signal A
5 Signal B
6 0 Volt (signal)
7 ground  (for shielding etc.)
8 Communications (not used)
9 not used

Avoid connecting pins 1 and 2, 1 and 6 or 7, as well as 2 and 6 or 7.

The 3 groups (A1, B1, Z1) (A2, B2, Z2) (A3, B3, Z3) represent one interface port each. In the DigiConform software this corresponds to the left, mid and right settings. Usually, only the mid group (A2, B2, Z2) is wired.

The + and - signals (e.g. A2+ and A2-) are inverted to eachother and can be used for 'symetrical' wiring. Usually, 'asymetrical' wiring, using the pins without + or -, fully suffices. Typically, the only pins used for asymetrical wiring (for the mid group only) are:

Pin
1 Ground
12 Signal B2
20 +5 Volt
29 Z2
32 Signal A2

Connect pin 29 (Z2) to pin 1 (Ground) to avoid accidental resets.

Note: For asymetrical wiring, the 3 ICs labeled AM26LS32 have to be removed from their sockets (PCI card only):
